Local SEO
SEO for Biratnagar and Morang businesses
Page one for SEO in Biratnagar prices Nepali buyers in Indian rupees, and the same query returns a map pack from India that Nepal never sees. Checked 12 Aug 2026.
Page one of your own
search prices you in Indian rupees
On 12 August 2026 I pulled the Nepali Google results for “seo expert in biratnagar” and opened every page on them.
The second organic result, rankwithnaresh.com, sells three monthly packages: ₹15,000, ₹35,000 and ₹75,000. Its free opportunity review is advertised as “Worth ₹25,000”. Its headline return figure is “₹8.5 ROI Per Rupee”.
That symbol is the Indian rupee. Nepal writes Rs, or NPR. Not the same money. I counted 24 ₹ signs on that page and not one figure written as Rs or NPR.
It may be a theme default nobody has revisited. What matters is narrower: if you are in Morang and read ₹35,000 a month, you do not know what you would be invoiced. Look at your own site with the same eye — if a price on it carries ₹, every visitor inherits that ambiguity, and in a border market some will assume whichever number suits them.
That same page’s headline calls its author “Biratnagar’s Only Resident SEO Expert”, and its meta description repeats it: “Biratnagar’s only SEO specialist who lives and works here.” The page ranking above it, rahulranjan.com.np, calls its author an “independent SEO specialist and full stack developer” based in Biratnagar. Both were on page one at once. I cannot adjudicate that, and neither can you. “Only” is not a checkable claim. A currency symbol is.
Search from the Indian side
and page one changes completely
Everyone selling SEO in Biratnagar mentions the border. Few have run the test.
I ran seo expert in biratnagar twice on 12 August 2026, same words and language, once with the search location set to Nepal and once to India.
From Nepal, the first two organic results are rahulranjan.com.np and rankwithnaresh.com, and there is no map pack at all; Google shows a knowledge panel for one Biratnagar profile instead. From India, neither site appears anywhere. In their place sits a three-profile map pack (Naresh Thapa SEO Expert in Nepal, Satlok Technology and Digital Marketing, and a third profile on Kesaliya Marg carrying no reviews) above an organic list that ends with itgurusolutions.in, an Indian firm.
So the two people who hold the Nepali page one are invisible from the Indian side, and India is shown a Biratnagar map pack Nepal never sees.
That is not a quirk of one query. I ran “hotel in biratnagar” the same way. From Nepal, booking.com is second, tripadvisor.com third, and one actual property — Lemon Tree Premier — makes the ten. From India, booking.com drops to thirteenth, easemytrip.com rises from fifth to second, and the Indian editions of tripadvisor, expedia, momondo and trivago move in alongside makemytrip.com. No hotel’s own website appears at all. That searcher is not lost to a rival hotel. They are lost to whoever resells the room.
The crossing behind this is not decorative. “Jogbani” draws 6,600 searches a month inside Nepal (Keyword Planner, location Nepal, English, 12 August 2026). SASEC records ICP Biratnagar, the Nepali mirror of ICP Jogbani in Bihar, as built with Indian assistance of US$19.64 million.
What none of that tells you is what share of your searches come from India. rankwithnaresh.com states that “28% of searches come from Indian border areas seeking services in Biratnagar”. It gives no source, and I could not find one. You do not need it: you hold the real number already.
How to find out whether India is actually searching for you
Three checks, all free, all yours, all worth running before you accept anybody’s 28%:
- Search Console → Performance → Countries, last three months. India is either in it with clicks against it, or it is not.
- Your Google Business Profile performance view, which is what would show whether that India-side pack sends you anything.
- Your three most valuable queries, run twice — location Nepal, then India, exactly as above.
If a page ranks in Nepal and vanishes in India, that is a separate job from your Biratnagar problem. Do not let one budget line cover both.
The trades that carry Biratnagar
do not generate “near me” searches
Read page one and you would think Biratnagar was made of restaurants, clinics and shops. The number-two result works its examples through “best momo in Biratnagar” and “dentist near Traffic Chowk”.
Some of the city’s money moves that way. A great deal does not. Wholesale and distribution, customs clearing and freight forwarding, hardware and construction supply, agro-processing. Biratnagar Jute Mills, founded here in 1936, is where Nepal’s industrial history begins. In those trades one enquiry beats a hundred, because the buyer is another business with a consignment already sitting somewhere.
I checked those trades in Google’s own data — location Nepal, English, 12 August 2026: “clearing agent biratnagar”, “customs agent biratnagar”, “freight forwarder biratnagar”, “transport service biratnagar” and “hardware shop biratnagar” all return no reportable search volume. “Custom clearing agent in nepal” returns 10 a month.
Which changes the work. For a B2B seller in Morang I would build one page per named service, in the words the trade uses rather than the ones a keyword tool likes, and count enquiries, not sessions. Ten of the right visitors is a good month.
What a search volume printed on
a sales page is really telling you
rankwithnaresh.com carries a table headed “Current Search Volume Reality (2025–2026 Data)”, giving “Restaurant near me Biratnagar” 12,400 a month, “Best shop in Biratnagar” 8,900, “SEO service Nepal” 3,600, the Nepali-script query “बिराटनगरमा राम्रो रेस्टुरेन्ट” 3,200, “Digital marketing Biratnagar” 2,100 and “SEO service near Jogbani / border” 1,400. Elsewhere it puts “best momo in Biratnagar” at 2,800.
I ran all seven through Google Ads’ own search volume data on 12 August 2026, location Nepal, language English. “SEO service nepal” and “best momo in biratnagar” each came back at 50 a month. The other five returned no reportable volume at all.
Figures like these can differ for ordinary reasons: a different tool, a different country setting, variants grouped together, a wider date range. That is the point. A number printed with no tool, no location and no period named cannot be checked by you, so it cannot be used by you. Ask for all three, then re-run one. Anybody worth paying answers in a line.
Now the same standard, turned on this page. “SEO expert in biratnagar” returns no reportable Keyword Planner volume in Nepal either, nor does “seo services in biratnagar” or “digital marketing agency in biratnagar”. I will not quote a monthly figure for any of them. They are small, high-intent queries, the kind somebody types once after deciding to spend money. That is the whole reason this page exists.
Your competition is the whole eastern
corridor, and Google splits it by category
The site at number one, rahulranjan.com.np, lists its service area in its own footer: “Biratnagar · Itahari · Dharan · Urlabari · Birtamod · Damak · Inaruwa · Rajbiraj · and all of Koshi Province”. That is honest, and it tells you what you are buying into: the people ranking here sell the corridor, not the city. Next door it is stronger still: Itahari shares its map pack with Dharan, which I have written up separately.
Inside Biratnagar, Google splits the category itself. Two map packs, 12 August 2026. For “seo services in biratnagar”: Naresh Thapa SEO Expert in Nepal (10 Siddhartha Marg), Satlok Technology and Digital Marketing Pvt. Ltd (Kesaliya Marg) and Cubical Kreators. For “digital marketing agency in biratnagar”: Express Advertising (Motiram Tole), Satlok again, and Likhati Digital Solutions (Munal Path).
One profile out of five holds both. SEO and digital marketing are two different shelves here. Check which one your buyers reach for, and whether your category puts you there.
Look at those addresses. They are toles and margs — Siddhartha Marg, Kesaliya Marg, Motiram Tole, Munal Path — one profile shows nothing beyond “Biratnagar”, and only one carries a house number. With no postal street-numbering for Google to match you against, consistency has to rest on one exact tole-and-ward string, written identically on your website, your Google Business Profile and every directory that carries you. Pick it once and never improvise it. The full local SEO for businesses in Nepal guide puts that consistency work in context.
Ten minutes of checking before
you pay anyone in Morang
No SEO knowledge required, just scepticism.
- Currency. Every price written as Rs or NPR, in numerals. If a proposal uses ₹, ask in writing which currency the invoice comes in.
- Provenance for every number. Which tool, which location, which date range — then re-run one. None of the seven volumes printed on the current number-two result reproduced when I ran them.
- One named client you can open. The case studies on that same page name “Everest Electronics” and “Himalayan Delights Restaurant” and give no address, URL or profile for either. A result you cannot trace to a business you could ring is a claim, not a result.
- Your own country report first. Before anybody tells you about Indian demand, open your Search Console countries view.
- Both packs. Search your category in Biratnagar as “seo” and as “digital marketing”. Four firms out of five sit in only one.
- One address string. Tole and ward, identical everywhere it appears.
If you would rather have this done than checked, that is the work. I take a small number of clients; how I engage is on the SEO consultant page.
The short version
Biratnagar’s results are winnable, but not by out-writing the people already there. They are winnable by being the one page a Morang buyer can check independently.
Start with what costs nothing. Put every price in Rs. Open the Search Console countries view before believing anything about Indian demand. Search your category in Biratnagar as “seo” and as “digital marketing”, and see which pack you are missing from. Then fix the address string, once, everywhere.
That is most of local search here, and none of it needs a package.
FAQ
Questions I
get asked here
My customers in Jogbani think in Indian rupees. Which currency should my prices be in?
Show the currency you will actually invoice in, written as Rs or NPR with numerals, and name it in words beside the price. Do not print a bare rupee symbol and do not auto-convert. That ambiguity is live on page one of Biratnagar’s own results, so your customers are already trained to be unsure.
Will my Biratnagar Google profile show up for somebody searching from across the border?
On this query the Indian side is shown more, not less. On 12 August 2026, “seo expert in biratnagar” run with the location set to India returned a three-profile Biratnagar map pack; run from Nepal it returned no pack at all. Meanwhile the two websites ranking first and second from Nepal were absent from the India-side results entirely. Maps and organic answer to different signals here, so test both, from both sides.
Why does my Biratnagar map pack look different every time I check it?
Usually because the query changed, not your ranking. On 12 August 2026, “seo expert in biratnagar” returned no pack from Nepal, “seo services in biratnagar” returned three profiles, and “digital marketing agency in biratnagar” three largely different ones. Wording moves it; so does location, since the first does return a pack from India. Identical wording from one location twice in a morning did not move it at all. Judge the trend, not one screenshot.
My business is in Morang district but outside Biratnagar Metropolitan City. Should my pages say Biratnagar?
Name where you actually are, by tole and ward, and state Biratnagar and Morang separately as the area served. Google’s guidelines ask for an address you genuinely staff during your stated hours, so a Biratnagar address you do not hold puts the profile at risk. Being findable from Biratnagar and being located in it are two different jobs, and only one involves your address.
I sell to traders and clearing agents, not walk-in customers. Is any of this worth doing?
Yes, but measured differently. “Clearing agent biratnagar”, “customs agent biratnagar” and “freight forwarder biratnagar” all return no reportable Keyword Planner volume in Nepal — below the reporting threshold, not proof nobody searches them. Build a page per named service in the words the trade uses, then count enquiries, not sessions.
