SEO for businesses in Chitwan
Search SEO expert in Bharatpur from inside Nepal and Google returns Indian agencies. Why Chitwan businesses lose that query, and how to word your way out.
Your district is Chitwan. Your city
shares its name with one in Rajasthan.
Here is a test you can run in two minutes, from your own counter in Narayangarh.
Search seo expert in bharatpur. Then search seo company in bharatpur chitwan. Same shop, same trade, one extra word. The two results pages come from different countries.
I ran both through a SERP API (DataForSEO) on 12 August 2026, location Nepal, language English, desktop — so this is what a Nepali searcher gets, not what I get in Kathmandu. Both returned nine organic results.
| What I searched | What came back in organic |
|---|---|
| seo expert in bharatpur | Seven of the nine were Indian pages: justdial.com’s Bharatpur directory twice, plus amlanmaiti.co.in, kashidigital.in, seoengineers.in, expertdigitalindia.com and tpdigital.in. The other two were a Facebook page and a YouTube video. |
| seo company in bharatpur chitwan | All nine about Nepal: techbehemoths.com’s Narayangarh company list, connectifisolutions.com.np, oncursor.com, nepalyp.com’s Bharatpur listing, bidhex.com, digitalyeti.com.np and the rest. |
One word. Chitwan is doing all of the work.
The second organic result is the one to open. It sits at amlanmaiti.co.in/seo-expert/bharatpur/, is titled “Best AI SEO Consultant and Expert in Bharatpur”, and its own body copy offers “AI-Enabled SEO services designed for Bharatpur, India businesses”. It also links to 298 other /seo-expert/<place>/ URLs on the same domain, Indian cities nearly all the way down — Bhagalpur, Bhalswa Jahangir Pur, Bhatpara, Bhavnagar. One template, swapped place by place, outranking almost everybody actually in Chitwan.
This is not Google malfunctioning. It has to guess which Bharatpur you mean, and the weight of English-language pages carrying that name sits south of the border.
The map knows you are in Nepal. The ten blue links do not.
Now the part that actually decides your strategy.
On that same India-flavoured page for seo expert in bharatpur, the three map results above the blue links are all Nepali: Oncursor Technology Pvt Ltd, address line “10 Dipendra Chowk”; a profile called “Ranjeet Poudel - SEO Expert in Nepal”; and one trading as “SEO साथी - Digital Expert”, which Google labels Bharatpur. Not one Indian business in the pack, sitting directly on top of a page of Indian websites.
Google is running two systems on one screen. The map leans on where the searcher is standing and where the business is pinned. The organic results are decided by pages, links and language, and on that measure India wins the word “Bharatpur” comfortably. So your profile can win the bare word. Your website, for now, almost certainly cannot. Two different jobs, and a mistake to fund them as one.
Both Bharatpurs sit beside a UNESCO wildlife park
Normally you rescue an ambiguous place name with context. Add “national park”, add “resort”, add “wildlife”, and the machine works out which one you mean. That rescue does not work here, and the reason is genuinely unlucky.
Chitwan National Park is UNESCO World Heritage site 284, recorded by UNESCO as “established in 1973”, “Nepal’s first National Park”, covering 93,200 hectares across four districts: Chitwan, Nawalparasi, Parsa and Makwanpur.
Bharatpur in Rajasthan sits beside Keoladeo National Park, UNESCO World Heritage site 340. UNESCO’s text for Keoladeo notes that noise from “the adjoining Bharatpur city” is minimal — same word, same relationship, different country.
Both Bharatpurs are next door to a UNESCO-listed park known for wildlife and birds. So every word you would reach for to prove you mean the Nepali one — park, wildlife, safari, birds, resort, heritage, tourism — describes the Indian one just as well. The context that usually disambiguates is the context the two cities share. Which is why “Chitwan” and “Nepal” have to sit on the page doing that work explicitly, rather than being left for Google to infer.
Which name belongs
where on your website
Chitwan gives you three names for roughly the same place, and they are not interchangeable. Chitwan is the district. Bharatpur Metropolitan City is the local government. Narayangarh, also written Narayanghat, is the commercial core. Here is how I would allocate them.
| Where | Which name | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Page titles, H1s, URLs | Chitwan | It is the only one of the three that cannot be confused with India |
| Google Business Profile, footer address, schema | Bharatpur, Chitwan | It is your real address, and the map layer already understands it |
| Body copy, directions, service-area text | Narayangarh and Narayanghat | It is what customers say out loud, and it is spelt both ways in live use |
The two spellings are not a trivia point. Nepali sites use both, and a page containing only one is invisible to half the people typing it. Use both at least once, in natural sentences, and stop worrying about it.
One Nepali result on the Chitwan-qualified search has already worked this out and titles its page “Web Development Company in Chitwan (Bharatpur)”. Parentheses, disambiguating quietly. Not elegant, but correct.
Your customers are ahead of most agencies here. In Nepal, bharatpur chitwan is typed around 1,900 times a month according to Keyword Planner: people already append the district name to make themselves understood. Copy them.
Where Chitwan’s search
demand actually sits
Chitwan usually gets described through its landmarks. That is only useful if it changes what somebody types or buys. Two things here do. All figures below: Google Keyword Planner, location Nepal, English, pulled 12 August 2026.
Sauraha, and who collects the booking
Hospitality is the biggest cluster of commercial demand I could find in the district.
| Query | Monthly searches in Nepal | Advertiser competition |
|---|---|---|
| hotel in sauraha | 4,400 | High (index 78) |
| hotel in chitwan | 2,400 | High (index 83) |
| resort in sauraha | 1,600 | Medium (index 36) |
| jungle safari chitwan | 1,000 | Low (index 5) |
Read that competition column properly, because it is routinely misquoted: it measures how hard advertisers bid in Google Ads, not how hard the organic results are to beat. What it tells you is that somebody already pays real money for people looking for a bed in Sauraha — in my experience, usually an online travel agency bidding on your own property name.
Which makes the last row the interesting one. A thousand searches a month for jungle safari in Chitwan, almost nobody bidding. That is a research query from someone who has not yet chosen a resort, and the cheapest point in the funnel to meet them.
Here is what I find hard to explain. I ran a find on the word “Sauraha” across page one for seo expert in chitwan. It appears once, on a single Oncursor page, inside the phrase “Bharatpur, Narayangarh, or Sauraha”. (Eight of the nine open in a browser; the ninth is a LinkedIn profile behind a sign-in wall, so call it unchecked.) One word in a three-town list is all the district’s largest commercial category gets from everybody selling search here.
Every platform booking arrives with commission attached, and in the properties I have looked at that is the biggest marketing number nobody puts in the marketing budget. More on that in SEO for hotels and tourism businesses.
Bharatpur, and the people travelling in for it
The second real economy is health and study, and it behaves completely differently.
In Nepal, bharatpur hospital is searched around 4,400 times a month — the same figure Keyword Planner returns for hotel in sauraha — at an advertiser competition index of zero, the bottom of the scale. Whatever paid competition exists there is too small for the tool to register.
Bharatpur carries the B.P. Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital plus two teaching hospitals, Chitwan Medical College and the College of Medical Sciences. A national cancer centre and two medical colleges do not draw only from their own district. Keyword Planner will not tell you where those 4,400 searchers sit — it reports Nepal, not Chitwan — so what follows is inference, not measurement: a catchment that size means many of them are elsewhere, working out where to take a family member and how to get there.
If that holds for your clinic, it should reshape the website. Your catchment is not Bharatpur. The pages that earn their keep are the dull ones: how to reach you, where to park, which days a department runs, what to bring. Check your own Search Console city report before you believe me.
What page one for
Chitwan is currently made of
Worth knowing what you compete against, because it is softer than it looks. On seo expert in chitwan, the third organic result is a training course — skilltrainingnepal.com’s “Advanced SEO Training in Chitwan”. Google is filling a hiring query with a page that teaches the subject, which normally happens when nobody has written the hiring page.
Four more slots go to national pages: a LinkedIn profile and a personal site both titled “SEO Expert in Nepal”, a Kathmandu consultant, a nationwide hiring guide. Two I could open — babapandey.com.np and rahulranjan.com.np — do not contain the word “Chitwan” anywhere. A third, sankalpadahal.info.np, contains it exactly once, in a footer line reading “Serving: Biratnagar, Kathmandu, Pokhara, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Chitwan, Butwal, Dharan, Hetauda, and all across Nepal”. That is the depth of the Chitwan coverage currently ranking on a Chitwan query.
Meanwhile all three map pack profiles — Oncursor, SEO साथी and Digital Yeti — are Bharatpur-addressed. If you trade from Sauraha, from Ratnanagar or from anywhere that is not the Bharatpur core, that pack is not representing you, and nothing on that screen explains what to do about it.
None of this makes those businesses bad at their work. It means the page a Chitwan owner needs has not been written yet.
Three questions that
only work in Chitwan
Ask these of anyone selling you search here, including me. They are close to useless anywhere else in Nepal, which is the point: somebody working from a template cannot answer them.
- “Which Bharatpur is that ranking for?” Get the query, the date and the location setting, then read the domain endings above whatever they showed you. A screen of .in results means the ranking is real and belongs to somebody in Rajasthan.
- “Show me where Chitwan appears on the page you would build.” If Chitwan lives only in the title tag and the body could be about anywhere, you are buying the page three national sites already rank with — two of which do not carry the word at all.
- “What changes for a Sauraha client versus a Bharatpur one?” The honest answer starts with the map pack, because a Sauraha pin will not win a Bharatpur-weighted district query and a Bharatpur pin will not win Sauraha wording. Anyone treating the district as one target has not looked.
A fourth, if you want a fast one: ask whether the page will say Narayangarh or Narayanghat. The right answer is both.
The profile deserves the same scrutiny, because in Chitwan the map pack is the winnable half. I have written a full walkthrough of Google Business Profile for Nepali businesses, including how verification and categories behave here. For everything outside the profile, local search for Nepali businesses is the longer guide.
How I would
split a Chitwan budget
The finding at the top of this page has a money consequence, and it decides whether I would take a Chitwan job at all.
Your profile can win on the word Bharatpur, because the map layer knows which country you are standing in. Your website, for now, almost certainly cannot — it is up against a few hundred templated Indian city pages and a border’s worth of English link weight. So these are not one line item. The profile is short and mostly finishable, aimed at Bharatpur and Chitwan queries. The website is longer, aimed at Chitwan and Sauraha wording, both spellings of Narayangarh, and the research queries nobody bids on.
I am one independent consultant in Kathmandu, not an agency, doing search work for over eight years. Most of a Chitwan engagement runs remotely; I travel down to photograph a property in Sauraha or to sit with a hospital’s front desk team. Scope in writing first, and your accounts stay in your name.
I am also happy to talk you out of it. The businesses I can move here are the ones whose customer decides at a distance — a family in another district choosing a hospital, a traveller choosing a resort before boarding the bus. If your trade walks past your shutter on Narayanghat high street and buys on impulse, the profile is worth an afternoon and the rest of this is not your problem. Wider picture: my SEO consultant page.
Start with
the two searches
Before you brief anybody, including me, run the two searches at the top of this page and look at where the results are hosted. Then search what your customers actually type — the hotel query, the hospital query, the supplier query — and see who is standing in front of you.
That quarter of an hour will tell you more than any proposal. If what you find is uncomfortable, or you want somebody to read it with you, send it over and I will tell you honestly whether there is a job here.
FAQ
Questions I
get asked here
Should my website target Chitwan, Bharatpur or Narayanghat?
Chitwan in titles, URLs and headings, because it is the only one of the three that cannot be mistaken for somewhere in India. Bharatpur in your address, footer and Google Business Profile, because that is genuinely where you are. Narayangarh and Narayanghat in body copy and directions, because that is what customers say. Use all three, in those places.
Is it spelt Narayangarh or Narayanghat?
Both are in active use, including by sites that currently rank for Chitwan business queries. There is no single correct form to rely on, and searchers split between them. Put both on the page at least once, in natural sentences, rather than picking a side. It costs nothing and stops half your potential visitors failing to match your wording.
An Indian agency ranks in Nepal for SEO in Bharatpur. Are they taking my customers?
For that exact bare query they are taking the clicks. For your customers, largely no. Someone in Chitwan hunting a local supplier tends to add Chitwan, or uses the map results, which on my 12 August 2026 check were entirely Nepali. The lesson is that the bare Bharatpur query is not worth chasing on your website. Compete on Chitwan wording and on your profile.
Should Sauraha and Bharatpur get separate pages, or one Chitwan page?
Separate, if you genuinely serve both. They are different searches under different pressure: Sauraha wording is hospitality with advertisers already bidding, while Bharatpur wording collides with an Indian city and is contested by .in domains. One page carrying both tends to end up as the vague city-list page already ranking. Give each its own, and keep Chitwan in both titles.
I trade in Sauraha, not Bharatpur. Can I appear in the Chitwan map pack?
The pack for district-wide Chitwan queries was filled entirely by Bharatpur-addressed profiles when I checked, so from Sauraha you are unlikely to displace them there. That is fine: it is not your best target. Map results lean heavily on where the searcher is standing, and people searching Sauraha hotels are usually in or heading to Sauraha. Optimise the profile for Sauraha wording.
